    I have 4 computers. 3 are running Win 8.1. and one Linux/Samba.

One of them "A ", has printer and some other folders shared on LAN. The problem is that neither of the other computers "B" & "C" can access "A ". Its not accepting the user name/password.

All computers can access & login to the Samba server without any issue.

For a test, I brought in a Win 7 computers and it can access & login "A" without any problem.

    At my wits end.

Is Homegroup being used or have you disabled it completely on all Windows computers?
Also, whenever I setup sharing I change the net adapter settings by:
    Uninstalling QoS
    Uncheck TCP/IP v6
Advanced button > uncheck LMHosts & check use NetBios over TCP/IP

    Tony,

Homegroup is disabled on all the computers. IPV6 has not been disabled. It never was but suddenly everything seems to have stopped working.

Don't think so as WinXP laptop & Win7 computer can both connect without any problem.

Baffling. I would try removing the shares and then recreating them.

From B&C you are using an account on A aren't you? Did you recently make any changes to the A user profile?

All the computers have the same usernames & passwords on all the computers & are also mirrored on Samba server.

No changes were made in any profiles on any computers.

Not tried anything till now but Win 10 virtual machine running on the main computer "A" can access the shared folders on "A ". This leads me to believe that there is some problem with my other machines.

Whiskeyman, all my computers can see each other but can't login. All the 3 computers have the same username & passwords.

I am as baffled & confused as you are. Tried recreating shares, no luck.

Seems some form of ghost or evil spirit has entered my computers and is creating havoc. :D

Try changing the passwords. I mean use the Change password thing but type the same password, i.e. recreate the same passwords.

Might be time to reset all network settings on each of the machines that will not comply, then set up sharing again fresh. :)

Download the Net Adapter Repair All In One Please use this direct link

Save the application to your desktop, right click and run as administrator.

Note: Your ethernet cable must be plugged in during this process!!

    Click the Advanced repair.

    • Click OK at the prompt to continue.
    • The program will need to reboot your machine, allow it to do so.
    • Check your issue.
    • If the issue still persist re-open (as administrator) the tool, check all boxes in the picture below.
