my laptop shut down the other night but restarted and now when it reboots it says no operating system found. I hit f2 and found a test to run and i saw it report on hard drive found. The laptop felt pretty hot on the bottom even though the fan is running. How do I get it to let me try to boot in safe mode or is it to late for that?

Hi dodopie. If you press F8 on startup to bring up the advanced boot options menu can you select Last Known Good Configuration or Safe Mode?

Do you have a Windows 7 DVD available?

Well thanks for letting us know. :)

I would assume that the connection to the drive was somewhat loose and possibly a slight impact or moving the laptop around could have caused this. But that normally doesn't happen since the drive is tightened into place via the mounting holes.
