I note a Windows 7 update is marked as Failed - KB2952664 Update for Windows 7 for 64 based System:: Recommended 14/10/2014. Further updates procedure fails to automatically install. Can this failed update be downloaded from Microsoft Web site? or just ignored? Thanks Bobby.

Hi BobbyScot. See this link for more information, Windows 7 patch KB 2952664 fails with error 80242016.

Many people have experienced this update failing on their systems including myself so if you tried to install it and it won't install then don't worry about it. A refresh of Windows Update indicated that no new updates are available despite that one update failing so Microsoft has pulled the patch temporarily again for the eighth time and will plan on re-releasing it again at some point.

Uninstall the update through the Control Panel. Control Panel\Programs and Features\View installed updates. Highlight KB2952664 uninstall. Then check for new updates. Reinstall KB2952664. That's how I fixed mine.

Gentlemen, thank you for valuable information, appreciated. Thank goodness that Microsoft is at fault in this instance and not my computer system. I note Microsoft appear to update Security Essentials several times a day Thanks Bobby.
