Seamonkey just updated to version 2.29. Now the Address book is in random order. The VIEW menu shows sort by Name Ascending, but it won't sort properly. What did they do?

I noticed the same thing. What turned out to work for me was to go into View and sort the list some very wrong way, then sort it the right way. For some reason, that worked.

Let us know if it works for you. Hopefully that wrinkle in SM will be fixed soon.

EDIT: I just checked mine again and noticed the "fix" hadn't stuck. It has to be done each time the Address Book is opened. Not what I'd call a real fix, but I used it yesterday when I added a new name and wanted to make sure it was in the right place. The procedure I described worked again just now, but it doesn't stay there after closing the Address Book. * sigh *

The SM Forum has other people mentioning the same bug. There are also reports of losing scroll bars and bookmarks since the latest version came out.

Thanks all; at least I now know I didn't cause the problem, but will have to be patient.

Seamonkey just released 2.29.1, but it did not fix the problem. I guess we will have to wait.

UPDATE: I checked the SM Forum today and saw that in v2.30 the problem is fixed. When I went to download it, I found it's still in beta, so will have to wait some more.

Meanwhile, I've noticed that when I open the Address Book file, the names are still not in the desired order. But when the Compose window is open, which is the way I prepare a message, pressing on the Address Button shows the names all in alphabetical order, the way I want them. So for practical purposes, I can work with the current version OK.
