    Quote from the comments section...

I, for one, got over Windows 8 as soon as I deleted it and installed Windows 7. MS is calling W9 "Threshold," but they really should rename it "Under the Bus," because that's likely where it will end up for a lot of old school Windows users.

MS still doesn't get the productivity mentality many users have and insist upon. We don't need tiles or cloud subscriptions or tethers to a Big Brother future. Give us an OS we can install that runs reliably and lets us get things done. Is that too much to ask for?

That last paragraph states my position entirely. I wish Microsoft would stop emulating Apple and stick with what made them famous to begin with.

James, I wonder whether we are too reserved? Obviously there are advantages in "Synching" and using "Clouds ". You wouldn't have to "Backup" or worry about "Re-installing ".
MS will do it for "FREE ". Neil.

Good question, I think MS, or at least they can do with it what ever they want. I remember reading about some guy, who was a professional photographer, and had a lot of digital photos stored in some cloud service (not sure if it was MS's cloud, or google drive, or whatever they call it). He had some photos taken on a family holiday, and on the pictures there were some naked people on the beach. Those pictures were deleted as "evil p**n" pics.
My point is, if one saves data to some cloud service, one has to accept that at least technically, the provider of that service can do what ever he wants to that data. And I bet legally too, armies of layers have propably carefully prepared exhaustingly long EULA's filled with legal jargon, that also mention that provider of the service can do just that.
My data is stored only on devices and media, that I have 100% control of.

I do not use cloud services because it's to confusing as to who owns what and what can be done with anything stored there.

    I wholeheartedly agree with retiredlearner.
Inappropriate content on Facebook or Twitter gets removed as well.

Cloud, or One Drive was not intended to store your pornographic library.

Facebook, Twitter, Google, MS etc. are telling us what is appropriate and what inappropriate? Thanks, but no thanks.

If they don't follow established laws, they will get fined or shutdown.

    SpywareDr is spot on there.

I look at it this way, The Windows OS that we buy actually does not belong to us, (or Google store) we only buy a License to use it, so whatever comes along with it belongs to them as well, we can use it but they control over what we use it for, seems fair to me.
Because I have a big shed and allow my neighbor to store some stuff in it, but I have the last say of what he puts in it, it is what I consider appropriate and not what he considers appropriate, it is his property that he owns but my shed that I own.
Make sense, it does to me.

Seems like I didnt make my self clear, but lets continue with hawk22:s shed-metaphore.

Lets assume that your neighbor wants to store some stuff in that shed of yours. Among other stuff he want wants to store there a six pack of beer. According to established laws, possessing alcohol beverages is completely legal. So he assumes, its OK for him to store that six-pack of beer in your shed.
But you dont approve the use of alcohol, and so you will pour his six-pack of beer down the drain, because you feel it is inappropriate. And your neighbor is unhappy, because he thought you were going to play by the established laws, but instead of that, you had your own, more restrictive rules, as to what can be stored in your shed.

So, with those cloud services, it is unfair if users later find out that their data was deleted, because the provider of the service had his own set of rules about what is appropriate and what inappropriate, and the user was not informed about them when he/she started using the service.

Point taken, fact remains you check out first what the rules are, what goes and what doesn't.
The Docs Link makes that very clear.

(I would drink that six pack, before I would tip it down the drain):p:p

Dogs are allowed. My Pug is wearing a coat of fur. So technically she's not naked.

Looking at my skull is like looking at the sun. But as far as I know I haven't given anyone a Tan or a sun burn yet.
