I cannot find in Win 7 where to make an original shortcut .lnk file. This is also used to make a path to an audio stream. In XP it's a form where a program can be initialized and a website added to autoload from the desktop.

The form is visible when you go to the source of a shortcut made for example to the desktop. I can't recall from the last time I did this if such a form can be written over and re-saved as new but I do not think so.

I have such a shortcut needed from XP but the programs store in a different
file folder and so it has to be remade for Programs (x86) or some such for the source executable to be read.

    Evan,

I looked at that but could not follow well.

Here is what the Shortcut dialog looks like in XP (lacking a screen shot)

What I have in XP is:

    Target Type: Application

    Target: "C:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe "h ttp://audio-ogg.ibiblio.org:8000/wcpe.ogg

    Start in:

    "C:\Program Files\foobar2000"

    Shortcut key none

    Run in normal Window
    --

"Start In" loads the music player Foobar2000.

The dialog in Win 7 seems to lack that start location and the web location
could contain only a web address and not the whole path shown in the "Target" is this kind of shortcut then not possible to build? I had a bit of help doing this sort of shortcut from a radio technician at our local public radio in Wisconsin. In Win 7 I'd have to change Program files to Program Files (x86) is my guess and everything would stay the same but I don't see how to enter it.

    Thanks

    got it

I have the desired shortcut now.

Without going to the link above, a standard shortcut properties box will open for one you have made for a program.

Worst case is you can overwrite the shortcut to get the proper target
and Start in box. Best do this as administrator.

For Win 7 x64 I had to change the text in my sample to C: "Program Files (space) (x86) etc in both target and start box to get Foobar going. Once done it opened theclassicalstation.org WCPE from the desktop with one key.

    Another Win 7 problem solved.

In Win 7 they never end.

I'll be back and appreciate the assistance as always.
