Using current edition of Chrome on Vista I have been using two sites to view movies & TV -i.e. Letmewatchthis (AKA http://www.watchfreemovies.ch/) and Project Free TV- up to know there have been no problems or ticks - but now I get a message "Chrome HD video viewer needs to be updated" I have a funny feeling about such messages and do not trust them, I think they are virus/malware traps.
    Your thoughts?
    Thanks:confused:

Get the message where & how? A pop-up window? On the Webpage itself?
You may already have malware in the form of a Chrome Extension.

it comes as a window laid over the web page itself. i have investigated for malware - found Yontoo & ytd which I understand are things that supposedly download youtibe clips but are designed to send ads i removed them and removed manually reg entries of these items .

    OK, thanks.

That upgrade prompt is a javascript window fed to the browser by the Website. It should have an X to close it. If can close it and still play the videos then just ignore it. Such sites are known to frequently display misleading ads.

All that's required is the latest Flash player plugin. Flash player comes with Chrome and cannot be obtained anywhere else for Chrome except Chrome itself. Chrome automatically updates Flash.

You will get popup ads like that, after all, it's a Chinese domain illegally streaming movies to its subscribers!
