I ******* up my Windows XP operating system by accidentally deleted some important system files, so now the Windows will show only a black screen with the cursor after it load past the Windows splash screen. Even with Safe Mode it shows no avail.

I tried to do system restore through recovery console but it didn't work. So my only choice is to do a repair installation of Windows XP. Problem is, the desktop doesn't have CD drive so I have to burn the XP installation disc into my USB drive.

I used the program "wintoflash" to execute this operation. I followed all the prompts, but it just wont boot into the Windows XP installation program. The desktop just show a BLSOD and it keeps producing short beeps. I even tried the USB stick using my laptop but it produced the same results.

So is there any way to let the computer boot past the splash screen so that it could get to the desktop OR is there any other correct way to repair Windows XP without using CD?

    Any help is appreciated.

I presume you changed the boot order to USB drive first? The BIOS will try to boot from the harddrive if you didn't change the boot order.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try to burn XP to your USB drive with another program, like Rufus - or maybe try a different USB drive.

If you remember which files you deleted you could put the drive into another xp computer and copy files from the working computer to their locations on the drive.

Actually, i ran Windows Installer Remover to remove files so that it may free up some HDD space. I seriously didn't know that execute this program results in unbootable computer. What do i mean in unbootable computer is when i pressed power button, nothing happens, the BIOS screen doesn't even appear, however the fan is spinning.
