my wife and i both have xp home installed on our computers. both came with remote desktop connection installed. for the life of me, i can't access either computer from any one of our computers on our home network. (just experimenting to see if remote desktop actually works.) i'm not a dummy, i know much about networking, etc. but i've never used remote desktop before. my real question is, though, that this windows-help article:
http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/howto-14.html says at the top that remote desktop connection is only available with xp pro, but towards the end of the article says that it's installed on all xp versions. it was installed on ours. do i need to upgrade to xp pro to be able to use remote desktop?

Here's what TechTV has to say about the Remote Desktop issue (published before the official release of XP):

"The Remote Desktop software will only be available with Windows XP Professional Edition, but users with Windows XP Home Edition, 95, 98, NT, and 2000 can use the software as long as they install it from the XP Professional installation CD. As far as setup is concerned, users comfortable with configuring network connections in post-3.1 versions of Windows will have little trouble setting up Remote Desktop in Windows XP. Entering the correct IP, workgroup, and login information is essential in establishing a connection to the local Windows XP machine. Others may have a steeper learning curve. "

    The entire article is here.

I have a pre-loaded copy of XP Home (Dell), it has the remote desktop feature and I've used it, so I know it'll work with Home.
