I don't know what happened to change my settings, or how to restore the old ones, but recently when I turned on my computer, it opened into the blue screen. It never did that before, it always opened into my desktop. Now I have to click on "owner" to get into my desktop. This is a one-person, home computer. No one else uses it but me.

So does anyone know how I can restore it back to opening into my desktop, and bypassing the blue screen? It's an aggravating pain to go through the blue screen. And why did it suddenly start doing that? Maybe some malware changed my settings? Well, I bought and downloaded Spy Sweeper yesterday, and cleaned off some of that junk. So that problem should be solved now, but I still don't know how to bypass the blue screen. Thanks for any help. Val

From Help and Support - Automatic Logon

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
    3. Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box, then click Apply.
    4. In the Automatically Log On window, type the password in the Password box, and then retype the password in the Confirm Password box.
    5. Click OK to close the Automatically Log On window, and then click OK to close the User Accounts window

I got the same nagging Welcome screen when I installed .NET framework version 1.1 recently. I remedied the situation by uninstalling it. :)

You can also bypass it by using TweakUI.

    TweakUI

    All MS Power Toys

    Where to look.
