WordPad (the Standard issue [win98 se] factory version) Suddenly started DOUBLE Spacing every time I intentionally hit the [Enter] key.

I MUST have >clicked< something in a weak moment ~ HELP!

For years WordPad has done a SINGLE space when and where ever I punched the [ENT] key...
So there MUST be a way to re-teach it to go back to Single Spacing when [ENT] is pressed.

    With WordPad open;
the View > Options shows "WORD" having the "wrap to ruler" option checked.

Can't find any other "choices" that hint at Line Spacing being adjustable.

"HELP" was of NO help - not a mention of Line Spacing that I could find.

In Wordpad, Line spacing is CTRL+1 for single line spacing, CTRL+2 for double, and CTRL+5 for time and a half.

By Golly, I think you're on to something here!!

Just opened a NEW WordPad window, and it DOES change the spacing when
I do a CTRL +1, +2, or +5 - and lets me change back and forth...

BUT an older WordPad file (hours older) that has BEEN SAVED -
seems to ignore the CTRL+! command to try to return to single line spacing.

    Cancel that!!
I had saved it, but I hadn't CLOSED the window...
I just now closed the old file's window, and re-opened that file
in a "new" WordPad window ...
    Guess What?
NOW the spacing is back to SINGLE spacing, and it also removed all the old double spaces!

Dunno how I managed ... cancel this thought, too ~
    Bad Typing probably did it!
An Attempt to make an ! (exclamation point) but hit [CTRL] instead of [SHIFT]
will prolly do it every time!!

    MANY THANKS, Bill!!

Wonder WHY this magic isn't mentioned in the WordPad "Help" notes?

I can't take credit for the fix. I Googled it in google groups and found it posted somewhere. Ain't Google great?.....
