When I right click and choose "Send Page" in Mozilla, my email client (Mozilla Thunderbird) opens properly but without a new composition opened and therefore without the URL of the page. All that happens is that the email client opens.

I am sure this is a simple "switch" that needs to be added somewhere and I just haven't found it. (and obviously changed it accidentally because it used to work!!)

Thanks so much for your help. (*again*)

    Hi IceWine,

    Click on: Start | Run
    Type: mail:to
    Does Thunderbird open?

    Click on: Start | Run
    Type: regedit
    Check this Registry Key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\http\shell\open\command
    Is Mozilla Thunderbird shown there?
    "C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD\THUNDERBIRD.EXE -url "%1 "

To make Mozilla use another mail program, have you done this:
Type about:config in the browser's Location Bar
Right click anywhere on the page
From the context menu choose New | Boolean
    Type: network.protocol-handler.external.mailto for the name
    Type: true for the value

Or you can add this to your prefs.js file, but backup the file first:
    user_pref( "network.protocol-handler.external.mailto ", true);

This should open the Mozilla Thunderbird mail program when you click on an e-mail link in Mozilla.

Let us know what you have done, and if any of the above helps.

If I right click I dont get a "Send Page" option.

"Send Link" is available from the file menu.

Am I missing something? The right click option I would use a lot.

    Labarum,

You don't get any context menu on a right click, or there is no Send Page option? I wasn't certain which.

    Labarum,

Do you have Mail & Newsgroups installed on Mozilla 1.7 RC 2?

No, Mulberry is my default mail client. If I install Mozilla mail I can find no way to prevent Mozilla passing the mailto: to its own mail clent.

My wife's PC has Mozilla mail as the default - looking at the same IMAP account.

She has "Send Page" in the context menu.

    Labarum,

That you don't have Mail & Newsgroups installed, is why you don't have the "Send Page" option in the context menu.

So it seems. Then it is inconsistent to retain the option in the top menu, but I am glad it is there.

When Firefox is more mature I will jump ship.

    Click on: Start | Run

    Does Thunderbird open?
    NO, INCORRECT PARAMETER

    Click on: Start | Run
    Type: regedit
    Check this Registry Key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\http\shell\open\command
    Is Mozilla Thunderbird shown there?
    "C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD\THUNDERBIRD.EXE -url "%1 "
    YES, IT'S THERE

To make Mozilla use another mail program, have you done this:
Type about:config in the browser's Location Bar
Right click anywhere on the page
From the context menu choose New | Boolean
    Type: network.protocol-handler.external.mailto for the name
    Type: true for the value

Or you can add this to your prefs.js file, but backup the file first:
    user_pref( "network.protocol-handler.external.mailto ", true);
DONE THIS AND YES I GET THE PROGRAM TO OPEN BUT I STILL DON'T HAVE A NEW COMPOSE WINDOW OPEN WITH IT (WITH THE URL FILLED IN)

    Thanks for your help, Ramona!

    Hi IceWine,

I may have found a solution for you, which I spotted on the netscape.mozilla.thunderbird Newsgroup:
    snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/c8b8to$8a63@ripley.netscape.com

    Try this:
UNcheck the setting for "Use Thunderbird as the default mail application"
    (assuming it's already checked)
    Click "OK"
Next: go back into the Options panel and put the check back in that option, and click "OK ". Now try "Send Page" from the context menu.

This worked for a couple of other users having the same problem, so here's hoping it will work for you too. Netscape 7.1 has this issue also, i.e., having to enable and disable options to get the program to retain the settings.
