    Hey Guys
Sorry if this has already been asked. I searched but couldn't find anything related.

I have Quick Books Pro 2003 at my work (office) computer. I want to access my work computer and work on Quick Books from my home computer but I don't know the best way to do this. Some people say PC Anywhere, I would really appreciate any suggestions that you have.

    Thank You

Do you need a quick peek at the machine? Or do you need to connect and work for hours? Hope both locations have high speed connection.

I’ve used PcAnywhere for years back to the days of DOS and 2400 baud modems and would recommend it.

Net Meeting that’s built into all versions of windows would work. It’s 20% slower than PcA. (click start->run and type CONF)

You can VPN in or use Terminal Server depending on the locations equipment.

There’ also all sorts of VPN/pc to pc shareware on the internet..

    Hi Steve

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, both computers have cable and I would need to be connected for about 2-3 hours so I can input data. I have used Windows XP remote assistance but it can't be used unless there is someone at the office to accept the call. I would just like to leave my work computer on and then come home and log on to it.

I'm not familiar with Net Meeting other that for conference calls.

Any of your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again

Can you use Windows XP remote desktop if the 'host' is Win XPPro and the 'remote' is Win2KPro?

XP Remote Desktop will be my support connection maintaining my brothers new computer this fall. He hates computers, does not want to learn how... but does enjoy surfing. Thanks for the link.
Two quick question if I may...
    1) When I'm link into his computer (teaching "how to create" a folder), will it display the screen activity I'm performing so he can watch and "hopefully" learn some basic skills? Both ends will be cable, so phones will be available for real time voice coaching.
    2) Can I perform work on his computer "simultaneously" as he is surf'en... within sensible limits.

    SIDE NOTE
XP SP2 was designed for users like my brother (per security) and I will be setting it up to take full advantage of everything it can perform automatically. Primarily, built in firewall will be active and "all critical updates" will be auto download / auto-install. The latter has potential of an bad update flaw, but that's a lesser evil than no updates at all.

Thanks for the post. I'm not sure the boss (Win XP PRO) knows where the original CD is to allow me to install 'Remote Desktop Connection'. Anyone know of a web source for the code?

Am I correct that only ONE user can be logged on to the XP PRo machine at once using this facility?

Plese also confirm that when running this code from my W2KPro machine, that I'd appear as an additional user on the bosses machine with full access to all the files and programs installed on that machine?

When establishing the name of the remote user......is that the USerID that I normally use to log onto my W2KPro system? or the system name as it is defined on the house network?

Another question.... He's running DSL as am I, but how do I determine his IP address? Will I have any difficulty as I'm running through a DSL router here on the W2KPro machine.

Not with Remote Desktop...it will blank out his desktop when you connect up. You can use "Remote Assistance ". With RA he can ask for help and you then can connect and he can see what you do.
    Links for RA

No I don't believe so as you will "Take Control" of his PC.

    Thanks Kent
The RA link option with screen echo to brothers computer will be most helpful.
Brother not being able to surf while I'm "fix'en" his computer, no big deal.
If he complaines, he can fix it himself. :D
Thanks again for the info and links.

    NP...glad to help.

Got our mother WinXP Home Edition just for the RA. She lives about a 3 hour drive away so it was not always convient when she had a problem with her Win98se. She would have to either bring it in the next time she came to the city (which is approx 2 times a month) or wait until I got out there.

Used it 3 times so far and it's been great.

    Cya...
