Hi all,, I have a question all of the members in this forum. We know that we can able to create a con folder by this command.
    md\\.\c:\con
After creating a con folder I observe that I can't access it..

    C:\>dir
Volume in drive C has no label.
    Volume Serial Number is DC4D-4556

    Directory of C:\

    07/08/2007 06:34 PM 193 audio.log
    07/08/2007 06:19 PM 0 AUTOEXEC.BAT
    07/20/2007 12:07 AM <DIR> con
    07/08/2007 06:19 PM 0 CONFIG.SYS
    07/20/2007 12:07 AM 0 dir
    07/20/2007 12:07 AM 0 dircls
    07/20/2007 12:07 AM 0 Documents
    07/10/2007 09:09 PM <DIR> Documents and Settings
    07/20/2007 12:07 AM 0 Program
    07/14/2007 09:55 PM <DIR> Program Files
    07/08/2007 06:37 PM 90 setup.log
    07/08/2007 06:40 PM <DIR> TempEI4
    07/19/2007 09:15 PM <DIR> WINDOWS
    07/14/2007 09:55 PM 146 YServer.txt
    9 File(s) 429 bytes
    5 Dir(s) 7,940,816,896 bytes free

After that when I was going to access I have got this massage..

    C:\> cd con
The system can not path specified.

So my question is can we really able to create a con folder if yes then how?? Why'm I not able to access this folder or, system store it with any default name..which is not known to us.

Overclocker, con is a reserved term used long ago by DOS to invoke the Console. If you want to know more about this:

Knock yourself out. :) and NO, that's not my picture on that site! (I'm much older)

That is one of who knows how many DOS bugs in Windows? ;)

Try this one for amusement (not dos related):

Open Notepad and type the following text exactly Bush hid the facts and save that under any name you like. Then reopen it and see what it says.

Actually you can avoid the political inference and do the same thing with other text strings such as:

    Bill fed the goats

    or even this:

    hhhh hhh hhh hhhhh

Now you would think a simple little program like Notepad wouldn't have any bugs in it, wouldn't you? ;)

ps. I think there may be a rash of users coming back here asking how to delete the con folder they made. It's easy but it requires some head scratching for most.
