Well the problem is that under modems there is just the old dialup built in modem and under network there is just 'VIA Compatible Fast Ethernet Adapter' Not sure where to find the modem.

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: f7141c43, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: ac115a30, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Thanks for the link to your hardware specs! :)

Start here to locate BIOS and drivers downloads for your motherboard. When locating the BIOS, choose
• Platform: "Motherboard: Intel Platform "
• Model: "PT8 Neo-V/ PX8 Neo-V (MS-7043)" <--Located near the end of the drop-down list.

Setting up a RAID array requires at least two (2) hard disk drives, not partitions. You can install the drivers for the RAID controller, but you cannot set up a RAID array without the correct HDD configuration.

I don't know if I will reply to this thread again.

And why would that be? Did I do something wrong?

Btw, I didn't install any RAID Drivers....

Tcm9669,

Your Everest info originally displayed
Your Everest info now displays:
It appears you downloaded and flashed the incorrect BIOS. It appears you downloaded and flashed the BIOS update for the PT880 Neo-FSR (MS-7043) motherboard.

Please carefully follow my BIOS download instructions above and obtain the Version 1.9 (1/18/2005) for the PT8 Neo-V/ PX8 Neo-V (MS-7043).

When locating the BIOS:
• Platform: "Motherboard: Intel Platform "
• Model: "PT8 Neo-V/ PX8 Neo-V (MS-7043)" <--8th line from the end of the drop-down list.
I suspect you incorrectly chose the 6th line from the end of the drop-down list "PT880 Neo-FSR (MS-7043) ".

For your convenience, here is a direct link to the correct BIOS.

After you complete the BIOS flash, please post a link to an updated Everest report so we can confirm all appears well in that regard.

Well I had a problem with that, it wouldn't let me change the drive to C when I booted from a DOS floppy.... Any ideas?

So I used the update from their website and it updated automatically thanks to their software.

********************
EDIT: Read my comments in Post #55 below before deciding whether to manually update your BIOS or not.
********************

BIOS Flash Procedure

I modified these instructions to match your correct BIOS update.

Check your BIOS for BIOS FLASH PROTECTION and make sure it's DISABLED, some motherboards have this function.
For Example:
K7N420 Pro (MS-6373) – BIOS setup/Integrated Peripherals/BIOS Protect/Disabled

Download the BIOS that match your motherboard model and version number.

Extract the BIOS that you have downloaded by double click it and extract it to a blank formatted floppy disk.

Boot the system with a bootable floppy disk
• A Windows 98/ME startup disk can be used
• Or you can create an MS-DOS startup disk under Windows XP, to create an MS-DOS startup disk under Windows XP, right click on the 3 ½ floppy drive icon under my computer and select format. On the format dialog box, check the box next to “Create MS-DOS startup disk” and then click the start button to make a MS-DOS startup disk.

NOTE: The documentation included in the BIOS zip file states the following regarding a "Non-FAT file system" (such as NTFS):
Once you boot off of the bootable floppy disk, replace the bootable floppy disk with the floppy disk containing the BIOS files.

At the A:\ prompt, type in the following command
ADSFI713.exe A7043VMS.190
and then press the Enter key.

Follow the on-screen prompts to update the BIOS.

CAUTION: DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER or RESET/REBOOT the SYSTEM before the BIOS update is completed, stopping the BIOS UPATE before it is completed will cause the system to become non-functional.

Reboot the system once the BIOS update has been completed.

I compared the v1.9 BIOS available for the PT880 Neo-FSR (MS-7043) to the v1.9 BIOS available for the PT8 Neo-V/ PX8 Neo-V (MS-7043). They are the same file (from the same IP address). However, the file sizes reported on MSI's website differ slightly between the two menus.

The 04/11/05 BIOS you installed via the utility might indeed be the correct BIOS. MSI might have overlooked making v2.0 (04/11/05) available from the PT8 Neo-V/ PX8 Neo-V (MS-7043) menu.

I am still confused about your motherboard's current "unknown" status according to Everest.

I'll keep poking around for clues. In the meantime, let's hope someone can provide a reasonable explanation and/or guidance.

mattman, I think you might have mistaken the tone of Tcm9669's earlier post...so please consider weighing in with your input. :)

Tcm9669, we seem to be treading water a little.

All the suggestions seem valid. Try not gloss over them. It is going to be hard identifying this problem and you are going to need to do some background research yourself. If you are not sure about an area, you can ask us, but better still, by using websearches on the topic you will then know more about your system. It may not be our "guidance" that solves the problem, more your "feel" for what is happening on the computer. You may need to do a little extra probing/research on our suggestions and give us feedback, if say, one of the tests or checks does not seem exactly right.

Review...
First suggestion was RAM. A quick run of the RAM testing utilities may not reveal errors. You need to run many passes (say, run it overnight).

I have a feeling about the drive setup. "Virtual memory" runs on the hard drive. The problem may be in accessing RAM or virtual memory on the HDD. When RAID drivers were loaded, then dumped, I wondered why because you only have one HDD and you cannot set up RAID array using only one HDD.

There appears to be a dial-up modem in the hardware system. I would not only disable it, if it is an add-in card, and you don't expect to ever use it again, open the case and take that card out. That will free up some system resources for other hardware.

Mailman has worked tirelessly to help you find the correct upgrades for the system. Read all the links he puts in his replies (blue coloured words or phrases).
My note here...there seems to be some discrepancy about the BIOS version, check at the MSI website about how to upgrade the BIOS, it will say to open the case and find the model and revision number printed on the motherboard. [Sorry Mailman :), but Everest may not read "through" the drivers to the correct BIOS version (it is working from the operating system, back through the system drivers...and...the system drivers might be the wrong ones or OEM drivers which Everest cannot read correctly)] I would only follow the motherboard manufacturer's instructions on how to identify the motherboard to upgrade the BIOS...which is most likely to open the case and read the model number (and revision number) printed on the motherboard. You are getting BSODs in Windows, I would never use a software BIOS upgrade under those circumstances.

Matt

@ Mailman:

I will try to do the manual update with the bootdisk from that website as the XP one did not work as this is an ntfs system and non-fat.

@ noahdfear

That is the dialup modem, not the cable modem.

@ Sarge

Please start your own, let's net get off topic. Thanks

@ mailman (again)

Thanks.

@ mattman

Thanks for coming back, I didn't mean to offend you or something, perhaps we misunderstood.

Before opening this thread I made a lot of research and searched and read a lot of threads (most of them from this forum, how do you think that I found out about this forum?) But all the threads I read did not help me in my problem.

As I told before I changed my RAM to a 1GB Module and the technicians tested it.

For sure I didn't set up any RAID arrays, I don't need it. I tried finding it from the BIOS to disable RAID, but nothing! Couldn't find it.

Well I will remove it when I will need that space, because I don't want to freak up my computer without the need, but I disabled it.

I did and read everything. Now I will try AGAIN the manual install with the 98 start up disk.

It is the correct version detected by EVEREST, checked. But I don't know why now it says unknown.. I will try making the manual install and I'll see.

Yes I know, in fact I tried making the manual install, but as that didn't work I had to risk, besides that it asked me for a floppy, a rescue disk to restore the BIOS back in case something goes wrong.

Thanks all for your help. I will try again the manual install and give you another Report.

This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
