I've got a brand new cpu. When I do a Cntl+Alt+Del I get the Task Manager ok but when I minimize it I don't get the little green cpu meter in the System Tray (far right).

My option settings for the Task Manager are:

    Always on top
    Minimize on use

(Hide when minimized is Not checked.)

The SysTray is unchecked for Hide inactive icons.

How do I get back the cpu meter?

Right-click the Taskbar & select Properties, click the Customize button under Notification area (on the Taskbar tab) and find the icon for CPU usage. Click Hide when inactive, a drop down choice menu will appear, select Always show.

    Arie,

Good try. My old computer does indeed show the CPU Usage meter in the Customize Notifications window but the new computer does not.

I've searched and compared the location of the taskman.exe and taskmgr.exe files in both computers and they seem to be identical so I am at a lost.

If I can't come up with anything else, I'll have to restore all using the restore cd.

Computer - PC or processor - CPU (Central Processing Unit)?

Some CPU's need specific drivers loaded to function correctly, e.g. AMD Athlon 64.

I took my new computer back to PC Club and the tech spent about 5 min bouncing around the Task Manager/Start up options plus desktop settings and got the cpu meter back. It works fine now. Thanks all.
