    Hello,

    I am using Firefox 1.0.7.

    I have tons of bookmarks. I've tried to consolidate, but my dropdown menu is too long to the point of having it scroll. The scroll part is not the issue. The question is more the overall physical size of the displayed drop down menu.

    For instance...When I click Bookmarks from the top menu bar. The drop down goes from the top of my screen to the bottom of my screen..and I still have to scroll to view the whole menu.

    The width of the menu takes up 1/4 of my screen.

    Is there a way to shorten the viewable length of the dropdown to some line count. I know I will still need to scroll, but atleast I will be able to see the status bar at the bottom of the window.

    I would also like to change the width of the viewable menu as well.

    Thanks
    Don

    Don,

    I couldn't agree more, that the length and width of the dropdown menu for Bookmarks is definitely an annoyance. To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to change either width or length. You can, however, add this to Firefox Features, as something you would like to see changed.

    The only way that I have been able towork is to consolidate like bookmarks in folders. I have about a dozen folders which hold most of the bookmarks. I have not been making any attempt to keep up with this, because I am using several programs ( I am using Seamonkey1.1a now). I have 15 folders in my OPersonal bookmarks toolbar plus 5 individual bookmarks. If I place everything I have in folders, I can keep the bookmarks within the page.

    Solution found

    From http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1789296#1789296

    Put this code in userChrome.css. Adjust to your liking.

    And it works GREAT

    Code:
    /* Set max length for bookmark menu list
    menupopup, popup {
     max-height: 400px !important; } */

     /* Change maximum width of bookmarks in menus:
    default is 26em 16em */
      menu.bookmark-item, menuitem.bookmark-item
     { max-width: 15em !important; }

     /* Fix bookmarks list from overlapping on Bookmarks button */
    menupopup {margin-top: 1px !important;}

    Don,

    That is fabulous, and thanks so much for sharing the code with everyone! There are a lot of talented folks over there, and the right person saw your thread at the right time!
