Hey guys, this is my first post so before I talk about problems I want to say Hi! :) Just recently I had a problem with my comp where it entered a boot loop. I read that there have been quite a few reports of ppl with Windows XP going into boot loops and something about a service called Mup.sys. Anyway I re-installed Windows which seemed to fix my prob. Now after I completely updated Windows SP2 and all updates, installed kav and ran a complete system scan (found one minor thing which was deleted), I am still having some issues that I didn't before this whole nightmare. 1) I can not right click or delete items on the task bar, in file explorer or anywhere in the Start Menu without my comp freezing for a min. then the screen goes black then my screen comes back (kind of like a re-boot but not actually). The funny thing is I can right click on things and disable them in the system tray and on the screen and that works fine. 2) My comp does not seem to recognize my monitor and there are no drivers for it under Windows XP (monitor is Samtron 76v). When I right click on screen and go to properties it says defualt monitor. I went to Add New Hardward however it does not list my monitor anywhere. 3) My comp also wont recognize my video card (Nvidia GeForce 3) I have both new and old drivers. I tried installing new ones and it says "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware." I then tried to install old drivers and it said it installed however took like a split sec to do so. Then when I check if it actually installed it has my video driver set at vga.dll (comes with windows I believe). Also, in device manager I have no heading display adapters so it is like windows is having a real problem with the graphics end of my system. My display is up and to one side (looks quite messed up). So those are my prob and they are driving me CRAZY. I would really appreicate any and all help guys. Thx.

Chief - Welcome to the Board :)
Repair or clean install with format?

Have you loaded the chipset drivers from the motherboard CD?

Have you checked in the BIOS to ensure that the AGP settings are compatible with your video card?

BTW - please try to be specific when titling your thread. 'Several Windows Problems' tells those who are running through the Board very little and does even less for our archive/search facilities. Posting Rules #3 - Meaningful Subject. I have edited your title.

I installed Windows over an existing copy so no it was not a repair nor did I format and do a clean install.

No I havent, however I really don't think the problem is with my hardware - it first stared after I installed some freeware programs from Stardock and I believe the culprit in messing up my comp originally was boot skin because I think it was responsible for the whole O/S 2 Warp screen I had that I could never get past in the boot process (one that comes with the program although I hadn't even started it yet) - when I go to device manager there is not even a heading Display adapters where I can scan for new hardware and update driver.

Yes, I the settings have not changed.

Also, sry about that I will make my post subject specific to my problem from now on although I hope I won't be reporting too many more probs and instead helping others with theirs. :p Thx.
