AVG Anti-virus

I am new to this computer adventure..... I was advised to download AVG Anti-virus but obviously something went wrong.

Can you help or suggest what I might do to fix the problem?

Whenever I turn my computer on I get the following message:

"Could not initialize AVG Anti-Virus Kernal Interface
Application cannot run "

I tried to remove the program by going to control panel, etc. but it would not "remove ". As a result I cannot put another Anti-virus on my computer because it tells me I have to remove AVG first and as I stated it won't remove.

You have not told us what versions of Windows or Internet Explorer you are using. That could make a difference in finding the fix. But if the above apply to you, try them.
