Every time I turn my computer on I get this message from error guard saying I have 300 critical error on my computer.

It then ask me to purchase it for 29.95 and it will fix the errors. Can anyone tell me if this is for real? Should I do just that or ignore it.

I am using Windows XP and my computer is new.

    Thanks
    Jane

It's a con :( - your PC has become infected.

Download Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta and run a full system scan - delete all it finds and leave it on your PC for constant protection.

As a second line of defence download AdAware SE and Spybot through Quicklinks in my signature, update them immediately and run. Delete all they find - green hits in Spybot are usage tracks and can be safely left.

Download SpywareBlaster 3.2, update it, run and 'Enable all protection' - this provides permanent protection against 3000+ nasties. This should be updated regularly.

If this does not solve the problem download HijackThis through Quicklinks, save it to a folder on your hard drive - not the desktop, close all browser windows, run it and post the log here.
