    Hi guys

    Appreciate views on SmadAv.

SmadAv seems to pick up quite a bit of registry problems and virus that escape Avast. Once detected and removal, it will not show up again.

The exe file is small unlike Avast or AVG. Installation is fast as it is tiny 1.2M. Can this be a true virus protection program; it seems too small & fast to be true.

The free version can be downloaded at download.com.

    Never heard of it.

Here are some, you may be interested in, if you are looking for something very light on your system, with very good detection.

The first two can be ran alongside of your current antivirus for an added layer of protection, just note that those are in beta stages now so if you scan with them make sure and check their findings at Virus Total before removing anything. :)

If you are going to use any application that has the potential of changing the registry BACKUP YOU REGISTRY FIRST.

Indeed this is true, but for your security applications? I suppose that is good practice but perhaps a little stringent for an antivirus, since most people run scans often with their antivirus, that is a lot of backing up the registry. :D

I'm only suggesting backups for apps that clean the reg. Another good practice before installing apps is to create a restore point.

I certainly am, I am using SecurAplus, and it works great, only 1% Cpu and pretty good detection rate. I am happy with it. :)

Here also are two programs that can remove Gigs of junk from your computer. :)
    System Ninja
    Wipe by Privacy Root

Also a nice AV companion that I use on my other machine, can be used mainly as an on demand scanner, it picks up junk that other software can miss. :)
    VirIt eXplorer Lite.

I would be vary of all these av, as they are not very well known and in the security world if its unknown, stay clear of it.
