Can somebody please assist me in the removal of whatever it is on the computer causing all of these popups. I've had a look around and deleting ceres.dll didn't work. Same prob with Buddy.exe and then I'm not sure whats associated with ZipZapPromos.

Let me know what programs I will need etc.

Pretty much the computer is being very sluggish and needs to be restarted all the time just to get something done. And its possibly could be more than these two slowing it down.

    Please help.. Thanks guys

    Hello Kaz,

Download HijackThis from here http://radiosplace.com/ latest version 1.99

Download it to it's own folder, for example C:\HIJACKTHIS - unzip (double click on zipped folder) - click on the execute - click scan button - click save log and save to the folder you just created *DO NOT FIX ANYTHING* - copy resultant .txt file and paste into your next post.

    Regards - Charles

Please download and install both Spybot (allow it to load SDHelper) and Ad-aware (links in my signature). Immediately check for updates to both programs. Run Spybot and fix everything it finds and prechecks for removal. Run Ad-aware in full scan mode and delete everything it finds (right click the results list and select all, then click next). Reboot, run HijackThis again and post the new log.

Okay I've got those downloading now..

Can someone clear this up for me.

"Run Spybot and fix everything it finds and prechecks for removal. "

So fix everthing it finds, and do I delete what it prechecks to remove.?? Or fix them? Like I said, dummy speech required. Because when it comes to screwing up the computer, I am clear before i attempt

If you tell it to fix the baddies it has found and pre-checked, you won't have to do any manual stuff. The app will take it from there.

    Hi
Yes fix anything SpyBot and ad-Aware find, reboot the pc if they suggest it.

I dont mean to but in guys, do this before making and posting a new hijackthis log. The PC will run better and fixs will work better if we target atlevents aka CATLEvents, vitumundo first.

Download and run Symantec's Virtumondo removal tool.
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.vundo.removal.tool.html
Fallow the steps 1 though 12
If it sees the threat fallow the prompts and reboot the PC
Post the FixVundo.log and a new Hiajckthis log, for the guys please.

Have you followed their initial steps and downloaded ad-aware and SpyBot Search & Destroy...

That picked up so many different things on both my business and personal computer, and we werent experiencing problems on our personal one..

    Kaz2604,

You should print this out and/or save it to text where you can access it in safe mode. It's important to follow the instructions completely, and in the order given.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

The following entries look suspicious, especially the bolded. The NativeImages entries suggest you're using an application (you?) created with Visual Basic, but the executables are unknowns. If you are not familiar with any of these, fix the entries now and scan the files in red with this online malware scanner after completing the following steps, then post the results.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [*mcodbc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\disdn\mcodbc.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [*weblog] C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\weblog.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [*netmain] C:\WINDOWS\java\Packages\netmain.exe rerun

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and OK. Yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode. Logon to you user account.

Now in safe mode, you will need to show hidden files and folders, as well as system files and extensions for known file types.

Search the drive for the files EGDACCESS_1057.dll and EGDACCESS.inf and delete.
Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the files qpdjrl.exe and prutjct.exe.
Open C:\Program Files and delete the folders Vsbvt, Sjrqnzh and Sbuf.
Open C:\Temp if present, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open the control panel, then internet options and delete the temporary internet files, checking the box for offline content. Then open the Java Plug-in, click the cache tab and then clear. This will only apply if you have installed Sun Java.
Open Ad-aware and run in full scan mode. Delete all it finds.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and OK.
Uncheck the /safeboot box in msconfig and ok to reboot.

Scan your PC with RAV. If any files are infected, click the report button then copy and paste it here.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

    Hobbs70, welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Feel free to read along, but keep in mind that the infections may differ on your machine and would require different steps/tools to help you. Please start a new thread of your own.

    Problem

so what I have done is marked the top lot.. and fixed them.

Im trying to scan these files in red.. none of them are familar and when I try to find them on the computer for malware it says its incorrect please find the correct filename.. And doing another hijackthis, they show up. Do I need to show hidden files or something back in this section or what?

No, those should not be hidden, but may have been removed by Spybot or Ad-aware and only the run entries were left-over. Fix the entries and look for the files while in safe mode.

    HiJac

Okay. I have fixed all the things you said to including the redded ones. I searched those files in safemode. I could not find egdaccess.inf but found edgaccess.dll which was with the egdaccess_1057.dll. Should I have deleted that instead? I wasnt sure. My boss said go for it, plus it was dated december 2004.. Computer was purchased before that.. So I assumed it was nothing.. Hopefully that works out problem free.

Some files wouldnt let me delete them in safemode.. Called itnasmw and niamten.

    Heres my log

Download the FixVundo.exe file from: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixVundo.exe
Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop.
Locate the file that you just downloaded.
Double-click the FixVundo.exe file to start the removal tool.
Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.

Important: Do not launch any new applications while the tool is running.

    Restart the computer.

Post the FixVundo.log and make then post a new Hijackthis log

Before we fix anything else, I'd like for you to download this zip. (I want to check for hidden dlls)

    http://tools.zerosrealm.com/pv.zip

Unzip it to the desktop. It will not work if you run it from inside the zip. After unzipping open the pv folder. Double click on the runme.bat. A dos window will open. Select option 1 for explorer dlls by typing 1 and then pressing enter. Notepad will open with a log in it. Copy and paste the log into this thread. Run it again, this time selecting option #2 for IE dlls and post that log also. Usually pretty large and take more than one post.
