I was enrolled in HP's ink program where you pay so much a month and receive cartridges when needed. I discovered it was a rip-off and cancelled it. Now, they have shut my printer down saying I cannot use the cartridges already purchased from them since I no longer subscribe to their service. Needless to say I have purchased my last HP product. Is there any way to get around this problem? I thought I may be able to use Bluetooth to print, but I haven't had much success with that.
I am running W10 on my PC and the printer is an HP Envy Photo 7155.

Really? You got a message that actually says that?

If so, that is pretty low - even for HP.

I am guessing you have no choice but to buy another set of cartridges (NOT from HP). I have had good luck with 3rd party ink from LD Products.

    Good luck.

I have learned since my post that HP considers the cartridges their property. They send you mailers to return the spent cartridges for recycling. So, it would appear that you are just renting them, and when you stop paying, they cut you off. The cartridges have something built in that your printer recognizes, and will not use that cartridge if the message is received to not do so. You can buy an HP cartridge at, say, Staples that you can use and it will work.
Anyway, I'm closing this thread since nothing short of an illegal hack will let me use the units I have.

Those you get in their automatic replacement plan, this is true. And I get that. And I don't have a problem with that. It is actually a great program for those who do a lot printing. That typically is NOT individual home users, but rather businesses.

What I don't feel is fair and is perhaps illegal is them (apparently by sending a signal to your computer through your network connection :() instructing your device to stop working. I feel at the very least, the printer should keep working until the cartridges already installed run out of ink.

Now surely, hidden somewhere in very fine print on page 174  of the enrollment agreement you electronically signed, you agreed to this term in the contract. :(

I think if me, I would report HP for this "scam". If you live in the US, you can report it with the Federal Trade Commission here: ReportFraud.ftc.gov
