My granddaughter running Win98 SE lately on startup sees a message: "Validation failed for C:\Windows\System\vsinit.dll ". She doesn't remember doing anything differently when surfing or reading e-mail. Anyone know what this might indicate?

    Thanks.

Looks like it could be Zone Alarm issue. Does she use ZA?

Yes, she uses Zone Alarm. I know there have been two recent ZoneAlarm updates, but not sure if she has downloaded these. Do you suggest we download the updates and see if that fixes the validation issue?

Haven't used the program for a few years now but isn't that McAffee Virus Shield initialization? And if yes, would that be a possible issue of disabled Virus Shield signifying potential infection? Just asking .......
