    Hi All
Yes i'm back again. After re-installing my computer to a factory reset, I am now in a similar position as before. I installed my Kodak ESP 3250 ok but now find that when I try and print a document from a memory stick/USD hard drive, the printer (and computer) hangs, but not every time. I found a possible cause on http://social.answers.microsoft.com...e/thread/5f8a15fb-c0d6-4357-aade-d16950264df1 and a possible solution, which I have tried, but this didn't work. Looking into this more I think the problem is with the Acer Aspire X3200 AMD chip ! I have contacted Acer who say the problem is my printer, but that is pretty unlikely, as it has affected both old and new printers in the same way. I have contacted them again through email and am awaiting a response. Here is a list of what happens.
    1. On Excel /document/ file , Print
    2. Printer displays "Printing "
    3. Nothing happens but display still says printing.
4.If I try to cancel printing, display says "Deleting" and nothing happens
    5. If I try and close Excel page, screen freezes and greys out.
    6. If I go to task manager I still cannot end the Excel program, it just hangs.
7 If I try and shut down computer it also hangs, and the only way to switch off is by holding power button on computer till it switches off.
I would appreciate some more help on this matter as I think Acer know about this problem but for some reason find it difficult to admit it.
    Merry Christmas All

Yes the test page prints ok. If I print from internal hard drive, so far it seems to print ok. It is a PC not a laptop I have and have tried four different USB ports with no change.

Sounds like a USB problem more than anything - have you considered re-installing/updating the chipset drivers?

I know you have recovered the system, but I would still try removing all USB controllers and root hubs through Device Manager and rebooting to allow Windows to re-detect and re-install.

I am not too sure how to go about your suggestion. Do I right click the usb device in the device manager then un-install, and then repeat for all usb devices?

    Hi All
I have now been using the printer for two weeks now with no hanging. I don't know if the problem has been solved by my various tinkerings, but only time will tell. Thanks to all who assisted on this matter, and I will mark it as resolved
    Cheers

Glad to hear that the problem is resolved - even though it is not clear what caused it :)
