    Hi guys,

Got a problem on my laptop.
I am getting the following pop up:
A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port.
For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.

After I click on it, it opens another dialog box telling me to unplug the USB device and click on "resetâ€. After I do that it closes and the first pop up comes back again, even though there is nothing plugged in, not even the power supply.

Any idea how to solve this
    Thanks
    Sven

General opinion on 'A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port' on Google suggests it's nothing to worry about.

    Solution ....

Device Manager > Expand USB Controllers and double click on each controller in turn > Advanced tab and check 'Don't tell me about USB errors' :)

    Hi all,

I marked it as unresolved again because I found out that this has something to do with my screen. Whenever I adjust the position on it, it gives me that message.
Even if I move the laptop just a little and it just shakes the screen, I get that message.
Could it be there is something loose inside and shortens out when I move it?

    Any one?
    Thanks
    Sven

PS: I will be out of the country and will not be able to read any response till 8-18-09

Sounds more than likely to me, but I am surprised that the setting I suggested does not work even under these circumstances.

    Pete,
I could not find the setting you recommended, but while trying to go there, i found out about the screen.
is the screen part of the USB connections?
    Thanks
    Sven

No - it is hardwired to the motherboard - think of it as a permanent D-Sub connection.

    Hi Pete,
I am back in the US and looked at your atachment and the PCI to USB controller is OK. my USB ROOT HUB #3 is the problem. I can disable it, but then none of the USB ports works.
Or it could be that I am just not getting what you are telling me.
    Please clarify
    Thanks
    Sven

My attachment shows where to disable USB error notification - do not disable the controller or some USB ports will not work - all if you only have one controller:)
Not clear if you are disabling Root Hub #3 or the controller

    Hi Pete
I am just disabling the Root Hub #3 and all usb ports in back will not work.
I will try to just disable the error notification when I get home.
    Thanks Again
    Sven
