i have a hp a110n desktop...the problem is it wont let me boot from my cd to reinstall xp...it accepts the change but wont comply...so when i go to change the boot sequence from the boot menu it says: HDD group--1 master...CD-ROM group--2 master...i select to boot from my cd...i press enter then it goes into power save mode and reboots...and keeps on rebooting...it wont change from hdd to my cd/dvd...do you think my bios is corrupt...i downloaded the updated bios but i dont know how to install it...i only updated a bios once and that was for a toshiba laptop...

Perhaps your IDE cable or your CD drive is faulty. I would check those out before flashing the BIOS.

You mentioned that you are trying to reinstall Windows XP. Can you describe what the history is behind this decision and why you feel a need for this? Also, have you installed or attempted to install SP3 and is this an AMD processor in that HP computer?

I would agree with Mark, let's investigate a few other options before jumping into flashing your BIOS. Are you saving your settings upon exit from the BIOS menus?

Another possibility is; Are you certain the media is bootable? Could be damaged or may not be bootable.

Have you tried to run the HP recovery from within Windows?

Please elaborate. What are these CDs and who made them?

    ;)
