I need an additional USB port on the back of my desktop. I bought a 4 port USB hub today, but the literate speaks of using it on a laptop. Is there any reason why I couldn't use it on a desktop? It has a short cable which shouldn't interfere with any other cables or cords.

I do have 2 USB ports on the front of the tower, but the door on the desk won't close completely with something plugged into them.

I can't see any reason why you would have problems (barring the physical shutting of the port cover). Did you try plugging it in and seeing what happened? USB's are designed for hotplugging after all.
