I bought a Lacie d2 USB/Firewire D V D DL RW to hook up to my Toshiba M200 Laptop/Tablet PC (Win XP Tablet edition SP2 latest updates). It has the lightscribe feature so of course I tried that too.

When I first tried the thing it burned C D R's at 48x, and DVD R's at 16X. I burned a CDR at 48X and then turned the CD over and tried the lightscribe feature. Using Nero 6.xx (the latest update) After using the Lightscribe feature (which took 20 minutes by the way). Some how that software changed my ability to burn CD R's at 48x. Now the fastest it will burn is 16X CDR's and 4XDVDR's. I am using Verbatum CD's/DVD's. I tried the exact same CD/DVD media in my Digital Audio W o r k s t a t i o n DVD burner, and it would burn at the rate of that burner which is a NEC model 48 CDR and 16XDVDR. That tells me it is not the media.

I sent the Lacie back to Zip Zoom Fly and they exchanged the drive. The new one also burns at the reduced rate.

Is there anyone who knows which driver or software I should replace. I think it changed my USB 2.0 driver somehow. (Because my USB Hard Drive is now slower as well)

I also uninstalled, and did a clean out of the registry of all Nero related entries, rebooted, then reinstalled Nero. No help ther either.

never mind, it is a media problemo, I tried the media 52X CDR's and 16X DVDR's that came with the drive, and it gave all the options for the right speed. I guess the CD's I bought (Verbatum 52X DCR's) do not read as that spped in this USB Drive for some reason although they do so in my DAW, and will burn at 48X easily in the DAW.
