I am trying to revive an IBM ThinkPad 360 laptop. At bootup it displays error 192. I have determined that this indicates a bad CMOS backup battery. I have opened the obvious access points on the underside of the laptop, but cannot see the CMOS battery. I have no experience with laptop PCs. Can anyone guide me thru the steps necessary to access the backup CMOS battery?

As a suggestion, register the machine at their Support website, it does not matter that the product is out of warranty. You then get a "support" page of your own that lists all the drivers and manuals for it (I have even come across maintenance/repair manuals). All the information is listed for you about your model. IBM have some of the best technical resources.
