    I was asked this, but did not have an answer;

    Installing a 4 port USB2 pci card into a system using WinXP Pro, 512MB RAM. After install he would like to use 2 ports to connect to a scanner and mouse (these are USB1 devices). The remaining two ports one to a thumb drive and the other to another USB2 device.

    My question (his question); Would connecting the USB1 devices impede the speed of the two remaing ports?

    No, but the USB 1 devices will only run at USB 1 transfer speeds.

    Hi Pete, thanks! I realize the USB1 devices would run at the slower speed, his concern was whether it might affect the speed of the other two ports. Guess you answered the question, thanks again!
