MAC Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 ???

    I picked up a cheap PCI card Encore ENLWI-B-RECA. In the past I have installed them w/o any problems. If I had one to swap it with I'd know for sure. I cant bring up the WLAN CU utility to configure it. It starts at boot (I can see it flash and its running in the task manager) but will not stay on. I'm running W2K Pro. Anyway i noticed that when i put the mouse pointer over the Connect Using (Card Adapter Name) in the general tab in the Wireless Network Connections Properties the MAC Address comes up 00-00-00-00-00-00....all other wireless cards in other computers read off the correct addy. Did this particular card not get its addy assigned in the factory or will it only appear after proper configuration?

    Return it and get another, it should have a mac address burnt into a chip on the card.

    As TonyT says, or if not returnable, try allocating a different set of resources for it in Device Manager.

    Edit: Are you using the original drivers? You may need a good set of drivers.

    The drivers are good, the mac was probably not burned in at the factory. i'm going to get an rma and send it back. i'll update when i get a new one.

    I received a replacement and this one has the MAC address burnt in and works just fine.
