I'm planning expanding my PC to include a couple more USB Ports and I've have decided to go for a USB 2.0 card which also gives me the option of added 2 USB ports to the front of my case as well.

What I've read on the internet says that USB 2.0 is Backwards Compatible and will work with USB 1.1/1.0 devices.

Can anyone confirm that this is correct. I do not want to spend money on Hardware that isn't going to be compatible with the hardware i already have.

    Thanks in Advance

Hi Flossie - you are correct :)

USB 2 is backwards compatible with USB 1 - USB 1 devices will run at USB 1 speed when plugged into a USB 2 port.

I have USB 2 on my m/c, but no USB 2 devices - all my USB 1 devices work fine in the USB 2 ports.

For the lowdown on USB see here www.usb.org
