AMD CPU speeds in MHz don't match the markings on their packaging. If it is marketed as a 2400+, the speed in MHz will be somewhere around 1800 MHz. But, don't use that number, that's just a guess.

A statement like this usually elicits a question about why they are marked this way. Well, AMD pits themselves in the marketplace against Intel. The AMD chip executes more instructions per cycle than an Intel; therefore, the AMD doesn't have to run as fast in MHz to do the same work as the Intel. But, you can rest assured if the AMD is marketed as a 2400+, it compares favorably with an Intel at 2400.

I would advise you to remove the chip, write down the numbers from it and do a little research at Google to get the speed in true MHz. Then set it in the BIOS.
