Acer Aspire Bios

Acer Aspire 1300

Does anyone know how to enter bios proper on this laptop.
According to instructions you hit F2 while booting, that does bring up a screen to allow you to change the boot order and change the date time. However it contains none of the normal settings I would associate with bios. Is there another way to do this. The Acer support doesnt keen to assist on this one either.

Any help would be appreciated

 

Unfortunately that is the Acer BIOS, there are other areas you can get to and if I could remember the idiosyncrasies of that BIOS I'd be happy to tell you.

All I can suggest is to poke around (without making changes) and eventually you'll find what you're looking for.

I thought that there must be more to it than this screen ah, well I will have to keep playing, shame!!

Maybe someone has the secret out there, until then apologies to the girlfriend as I'm going to be occupied.

I have an old acer aspire desktop 1240 model.
To enter bios setup i have to hit (ctrl- alt - esc keys) all at the same time while the blue acer screen is on.

If it is setup for fast boot. but if fast boot is disabled in bios then you get a message saying--- to enter setup hit (ctrl\alt \esc) keys.

I don't know if yours is the same but it might be.

the blue acer screen comes up just after or during post i think.

try the F10 key...

or ESC to skip memory count and then F10 straight after.

Hi guys thanks for trying but no success........yet! I'll just have to keep trying.

Ctrl,alt,esc got the boot menu (same as F2) and F10 nothing but I'm not giving up yet.

At any stage during the boot does the little cursur (this thiing _) flash on the right side of the screen? If it does then try any of the sequences that we have said... I had an Acer Laptop and thats what i had to do...


BUT...................On some of the older Acer's the BIOS is actually a program on the root dir, or in its on partition... Ive seen this once, but only on a reall old Acer... and because of this fact the BIOS was rather hard to get to...

But i did talk about this in anouther Topic, i think called "Acer BIOS "..(which i started)...so search for that..(id put a link here but i havent quite figured the search function myself)

Sorry i cant be much more of a help, but you called try ringing Acer at a last resort i quess, there okay here in Australia, but your in New Zealand arnt you? so im not sure what they are like there..

This Acer is brand spanking new and I did try Acer UK (Been living in the UK last 11 years) but although they acknowledged more bios screens exist they were unable/unwilling to share the information with me probably thought (prophetically) that I would kill it under warranty! Who me?

There was no signs of any flashing curser etc.

There are bios upgrades available for this machine and the flash utility to flash the rom so I am assuming that the bios is on the rom not the disk. But who knows, not me anyway? Although it is working perfectly at the moment I'm thinking of the day when I turn it on and it wont boot etc.

Oh well back to the drawing board and thanks again for the ideas.

Your manual for Acer Aspire 1300 Series on page 60, "BIOS Setup Utility" states the following....
Your computer's BIOS includes a built-in setup utility called Insyde Software SCU (system configuration utility). It can be started shortly after you turn the computer on, by pressing the F2 key during POST .
The BIOS setup utility displays summary information on your computer, its devices, processor and memory.
Your computer is already configured for optimal performance, and so you should not need to run this utility. However, you may need to change the BIOS settings if you encounter configuration problems in the future. Refer to "Troubleshooting" if a problem arises.
Navigating the BIOS Setup Utility
The BIOS setup utility provides two menus: Startup and Exit.
*
Use the forward and back cursor control keys to move between the two menus.

Press the Enter key to launch a menu, and then use the up and down cursor
control keys to move between menu items. Alternatively, you can press the
appropriate shortcut key (displayed in red) to select a menu or menu item.

Hi Dennis thanks for the post.

Yes I have been to this stage before however it only allows you to change the date/time or boot device order nothing else.
However after a call to Acer helpdesk they were able confirm that there is more available that is hidden but not how to access this. As I said it is working fine at the moment but in the future ??? so it was just a learning thing that set me to find out more.
