I have encountered a small problem which is causing me some concern. while I have posted other problems this one is preventing me from maybe solving the others. My CD/ROMs are both SATA devices and recognized in my Boot Menu. My OS HDD is also a SATA device. I should be able to divert my boot to a CD?ROM with the F8 key but this doesn't happen. Although the message "Press and Key to boot to CD or DVD" shows it will bypass the CD and boot directly from the OS HDD. I can access the CDs through My Computer and no errors show up in Device Manager.

Hi joe645, I can't check in W7 - but in W10 > Start > Control Panel > Autoplay > you need to set your individual requirements. Has W7 got that same operation?
Otherwise you would need to make a change in the BIOS itself. Neil.

Yes, W7 has the same option although I am not sure what to set all the values at so I do not get an error message that I can't create a system repair disk because parameters are not correct.

Play with WMP would be pretty safe and you can always choose the bottom of the page option Reset Defaults. Neil.

If CD or DVD drive doesn't work properly especially with Win 7 or Win 10. I think, Microsoft Fix-it will help with that kind of issue. You may search it online. If it does not work then perhaps there could be a hardware failure already.
