    Hi friends

I have a usb mouse running on win7.ultimate. It was plug in at the back on board usb port of the pc. In the bios all settings relating to usb is normal.

When this pc hibernates, then resume; sure as sun rest, this mouse don't move. Put into any front usb ports, mouse runs.

Putting a pendrive at any of the back usb ports, device manager says it is an unknown device. Hene it don't appear in the pc.

Any suggestion how to determine its cause unless it is a hardware issue?

Open Device Manager > USB Controllers > USB Root Hub/s > Right click > click on Properties > is the comp switching off to save power? Neil.

Neil, tested once seems to work. Another 24 hours final verdict will be out. Cheers!

Neil i think i can safely say that the mouse dead problem is resolved. Funny though; after i set the usb.root.hub>PowerMg "not to allow turn off ", when i inspect it latter, it always show that it remains as "allow ". In spite of this the mouse seem never to go dead. Anything to add? Cheers!!

Sorry to say, this morning the USB ports at the back did not worked. I will recheck the whole process at the front & back usb to give it another try. It only happen if i hibernate, not log out. Also will recheck these two paths. Thanks again.

Neil, Final story for the records

If pc shut down and restart, 2 things are now certain
    i) both USB hubs (front & back i presume) revert back to "allow turnoff" ii) the mouse at the back or front USB will work.

If pc hibernate & restart, it is certain
    i) the mouse at the back USB will not work while the front will ii) both hubs remain
    turn off.

So my solution: If want to keep using the back USB for my mouse, shut down.
