    Hello !
I bought a PC about 2 years ago but I notice something annoying that people who have same or lower specifications have better a performance than mine.
My Hardware match the max and recommended requirements of many games, but without any reason I can not play smoothly unless I decrease the graphics, in spite of those people whom I mentioned are playing these games with maxed out graphics !! :(

    Here is my Hardware:
    CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor Socket AM3+ (3100 MHz)
    MB: GA-990FXA-D3
    RAM: DDR3 4GB PC3 12800 G.Skill
    VGA: ATI Readon HD 6850 DDR5 - 1024MB

    Note:
    Bios Version :F5e
    - Some told me to upgrade my bios.

    Please Help !!

    BIOS update may certainly help.

What games are you playing ? Are these single threaded or multi threaded ? AMD still has problems in single threaded applications where it lags behind Intel.

The system above differs from your "My System ". Is it your second system ?

Thanks rsinfo i'll try this tweak but i don't think it'll works , sec: ya i know assassin's creed 3 has possible lag issue but I've experienced bad performance with others games like sleeping dogs and Saint Row the third , so its not about assassin's creed only though I am telling you my friend has lower system parts lower than me and his pc performance better than mine

I have no power problem with GA-990FXA-D3 maybe because I got expensive power supply . about overclocking I didn't use it before there was no need to do so , I don't know my ram compatible with my motherboard not , u tell me how to know :d

Hi memo5200, If you read the Bios updates - you will see it describes specific fixes. I would diagnose my problem first, then determine which Bios Update will cure the problem.
Have you had a look at the Memory Qualified Vendors List?
It's in Pdf and can be printed out to peruse thoroughly.
Have you had a look through Gigabytes FAQ's. You might find an answer to your lack of 'performance' from what you have installed.
There are quite a number of "Tweaks" that can enhance your comps performance listed in the FAQ's.

The grunt from your PSU will still be subject to "Vdroop" as referred to in the link I posted previously. The PSU will deliver the voltage, but as the demand increases there will a slight loss at the work end.
Hence the suggested need to set the Voltage a little bit higher to accommodate. Neil.

From FAQ's: I have installed Phenom CPU and memory modules according to the Dual Channel Memory Configuration table in user’s manual, but system shows “unganged mode, 64-bit” during POST. How do I enable 128bit dual memory channel?

Phenom CPU have two individual memory controllers (DCTs), each one of them controls single memory channel (64 bit). These two DCTs can work simultaneously when memory modules are installed on different memory channels. It is called “unganged mode”.

You can switch to “ganged mode, 128bit” when you are using two or four of the same memory modules. Please kindly enter BIOS setup program, to press CTRL+F1 key to enable advanced BIOS setup features then enter "MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)\ DRAM Configuration ", to set the “DCTs Mode” as “Ganged”.

thank you every post from you guys I am learning a lot of things...

1st:I can not tell where is the problem exactly so i can't deiced which version of BIOS I need.

2nd:I reviewed The Memory Qualification Vendor of GA-990FXA-D3 and I couldnt find exactly my ram but i found a similer one , My Ram is G.SKILL F3-12800CL9-4GBRL and what i got of qualification vendor is :

    G.SKILL 2GB F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO
    G.SKILL 2GB F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL
    G.SKILL 4GB F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO
    G.SKILL 4GB F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
    G.SKILL 4GB F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH

3rd: DCTs Mode has changed to "Ganged" and I didn't feel any better.

4th: I've been searching of performance on FAQ and other thread and nothing found unless USB performance drop with Win8 < Unrelated :).

5th: I've tried all tweaks that u mentioned above without any progress

Note : My problem with graphics isn't with Assassin's Creed 3 Only I got same issue with Tomb Raider , Sleeping Dog , Saint Row The Third and other games

Thanks For your concern , I really appreciate you efforts

What other programs are you running ? Running a lot of programs in the background would bring down any computer to its knees.

Hi memo5200, have you thought about your RAM speed? 800Mhz? With your CPU capabilities, I would have thought you would go for the higher rated approved on the list. Neil.

Well the video drivers are the latest stable release.

About the BIOS : Use the F8 version. That's the latest stable version.

Yes Neil my ram Speed 800MHz , I made quick search about compatibility and I got nothing

Does it worth risking upgrading BIOS? some of AMD Support told me my whole system is mainstream and its normal to give such a performance... but I don't like their replies because they gave just Opinions not technical advises

If Bios Updating worth it or not ,I wanna to know BIOS preference Optimization

    Thanks Neil. rsinfo
