I recently got a dell PR03X docking station for my dell laptop latitude e6520. The issue I see is that when i connect the laptop to the docking station the speakers on the laptop stop working. The headphone port on the laptop still plays audio when docks connected. Has the audio been diverted to the audio ports on the docking station? If thats the case then how can I change to use the laptop speakers. If not then what could be the issue?

    Here the laptop specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    RAM: 8GB
    CPU: intel i7-2760QM @ 2.4GH
Audio Driver: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
GPU: Intel HD Graphics, NVIDIA NVS 4200M

Have you considered connecting speakers to the dock station?

Might look in the manual for the dock station to see if you can disable the audio which should then allow the lappy speakers to work.

Make sure you have the latest Audio driver for your laptop. You should be able to right-click the speaker icon in your tray and select Playback devices and choose the correct output device.

The problem is that whether the dock is connected or not. There are only two playback devices. One has an head phone icon and thats marked as the communications devices and the other marked as speaker. I have it showing all devices.

Im not sure what did it but I updated my bios and uninstalled the driver and have windows install the generic driver for the audio and now I hear sound. Before i marked this as resolved would the idt driver prevent audio play from the speakers or maybe my driver was corrupt?

Updating the BIOS is always a good option if you're having hardware issues :)
