I get the error message "No hardware-accelerated Direct3D devices were found " when I try to open Real Chess 3D. The screen then blacks out and I have to restart the PC. Chess is a recent installation.
My hardware: Dell Optiplex 280, PIV 2.89GHz, 80GB HDD, 2GB RAM.
There is an alarm (yellow triangle) on Intel(R) 82915 G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Familyunder Device Manager > Display Adaptors. Under Device Status (right click) there is a message Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
    My software: Windows 7 Ultimate.

    Thx Evan.

I will download the drivers and get back to you.

Just remembered to add - I have two display ports - VGA (on board) and DVI (card). There are two display adaptors listed under Device Manager > Display Adaptors. Windows has disabled one of them. Could the drivers be conflicting? According to this Microsoft webpage about Multimonitor support this configuration may not work. It is for Windows Vista, but could be true for Windows 7 too.

    More later ...

It is possible that they could conflict. I assume the Intel video card is for your integrated video card correct? If you have a dedicated video card then I would disable the onboard video in the BIOS and use the dedicated card for playing your games instead of the onboard one.

The update is searching for new VGA driver & not for Intel's graphic. So you are getting the "best driver" message.

Have you gone through my link in post #6 ?
