HP PhotoGallery HP Solution Center Error: Feature on CD-ROM

Here is what fixed this problem for me.

When HP Solution Center opens to scan a document on HP Scanjet 4370, I received an PhotoGallery error message: “The feature your are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the “PhotoGallery” disk and click OK.”

After searching and reading rather complicated solutions across the Internet, including HP’s site, I found the April 6, 2006 post by kope007. I used the second solution described, I added the HP Scanjet 4370 CD and then opened HP Solution Center again.

The annoying error box disappeared. Problem fixed.

Thanks WindowsBBS.

Here is kope007's helpful post:
“Same problem fixed

“I had a similar problem and it is definatly with the the HP software. After a few back and forths with HP support I finally got a reasonable solution. There are two ways to accomplish the same thing:

“Insert Hp disc that was supplyed with printer.
Go to Start then Run type "X:\Photogallery\PhotoGallery.msi"
(Replace X: with the CD-ROM drive letter and leave out quotes).

“Or

“While Hp disc is inserted click on one of the media files that produced the error message and it will automatically install the missing file.

“Hope this helps. I can't believe there is no mention of this problem on their site. After searching I found many people with the same problem.”
