I don't have Office installed on any of my PCs. I figured I had to have that before I could get internal access to the program.
For years I figured I had to have Office before I could even look at Powerpoint presentations.
I just found out the other day there was a free Powerpoint veiwer from Microsoft. DUH. Wonder why they never bothered to install it in their operating system?

Because powerpoint presentations are used primarily for just that, presentations, usually business or work related. Occasionally one sees powerpoint presentations circulating via email that are someone's creative impulse, usually nice photos. Business presentations are usually shown using a projector or on a large plasma/lcd screen. The average user may never have a need for powerpoint viewer.

Yeah 99% of the powerpoint presentations I receive are at work. Half of which have to do with my job and the other half are not job related at all.
