Clean temp and cookies

Hi ... I'm curious what you use to clean your comp with ? I don't like to use any registry cleaner , so do you have a nice cleaner that is safe to really use ? For XP and Vista .

Thanks

My System

For temporary files I use Windows commands (XP) ....

Start > Run > %temp% > Enter and delete the lot.

C:\Windows\Temp and delete the lot, bearing in mind in both cases that a couple of files may be in use and cannot be deleted.

IE is set to empty temporary internet files on exit - Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

For cookie control I use Cookie Monster.

Likewise I would not advocate the use of a registry cleaner.

Hi Sniper9228,

Poster asked for a nice safe cleaner. I thought about including cc cleaner myself but there is a potential risk and harm that can be done with this depending on settings and options and choices made for cleaning. I will not argue that it is a very useful tool if one reads the manual or help files, carefully. and understands what this tool does before using it. I don't think I would describe it, or include it in the category of safe applications.

What I'm trying to say is it can be safe, but it can also be harmful based on options and choices. If this program is used there is a learning curve and reading manual or help files is a "MUST".

I agree with goddez1...I used to reccommend CCleaner but found that it was to "technical" for some users so I now reccommend ATF Cleaner. Very simple to use.

Thanks for all the tips Pls post what you use if its different from above . I too was doing it manually but I thought I would ask to see what other use . Cookies monster look good and so is ATF . I have been using ATF for a while now, Thanks any way

I agree that ccleaner isn't a safe app. I have seen this app cause more problems later on with other people comps and this is mainly the reason to my post , to hear how or what other use so I can past this info on to my family/friends .

Thank you .

I don't use any software. Once in a blue moon I will delete my TIF & Tmp files manually.

From Atribune's Web Site...

Notes for Windows Vista users:

On Windows Vista that "Windows Temp" is disabled, to empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator"

Prefetch has been disabled on Windows Vista. As I'm not sure the effects that emptying prefetch on Windows Vista will have for the time being it I won't enable that function.
