Total Recorder 7.0 for Vista out from High Criteria
I got an email from High Criteria last night that TR 7.0 was out for Vista. Eureeka!!.
I installed it in two Vista machines, configuration just took over from my TR6.1 settings (I could use 6.1 to edit, but not to record). I don’t do much but record, nothing fancy, and I just edit to snip ends or to snip out a piece of music from the middle to be on its own. I just tested the clock setting and it worked flawlessly.
If there is one thing that they forgot to say, it is that the user has to select the Total Recorder drivers, much as was done in SoundTap, but the user can do that right in the TR software, no trips to Control Panel. Also, once the drivers are selected, that’s it. The user need not ever go back to re-select the default drivers for playback as in SoundTap. I launched WMP11, RealPlayer 11 Plus, and Winamp 5.54 and played from my library with the TR drivers set, no problemo. So, the long nightmare is over. All of that other stuff, like from NCH, etc., even if it did work with Vista, it was in my opinion overly complicated junk.
Freecorder is fine for a lot of recording, the parameters are good, but a.) no clock and b.) I think that it is analogue, taking the sound on the way to the speakers, while TR is completely digital.
