PeteC (helpful as ever) recently talked me through using XXClone to solve a problem. I used the free Test Drive version, and it worked so well I decided to follow his advice and get the full version to use for incremental backups.
But horrors: I found that my C:\Windows folder "weighs" 3.23GB, my Programs folder 1.89 GB and my Docs & Settings folder (three family-member users + Administrator) 1.15 GB. So not even the smallest of these would fit onto a 700 MB CD-RW.
I checked all the info in the XXClone manual, but nowhere was there any mention of cloning onto multiple Target drives (what I seem to remember from my FDD days was called spanning?). So I'm not sure how you can use XXClone for backup purposes. (Unless, of course, you clone onto a second HDD, which I could - but then, if one day the d**n box won't boot, then I can't access the second HDD anyway - or can I?).
Anybody out there using XXClone for backups have any guidance on this, please?
(BTW, I'll be on the road throughout August with little possibility of accessing the BBS, so I may be very slow in replying - please don't see that as discourtesy.)
