For your problem with uninstalling Musicmatch, is there a Musicmatch icon in the notification area (area right next to the clock)? If so, right click on it and choose exit. Then try uninstalling it.

When I was having a problem with MusicMatch 8.2, this is what a email from their technical support told me to do.

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Musicmatch Jukebox and then reinstall it. Please do the following:

1. Double-click "My Computer".
2. Double-click "Control Panel".
3. Double-click "Add/Remove Programs".
4. Highlight the Musicmatch entry.
5. Click the "Add/Remove" button to remove Musicmatch (remove any shared files if asked).

If Musicmatch Jukebox is not listed in "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, please do the following:

- Open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to the directory in which you installed Musicmatch Jukebox (typically "C:\Program Files").
- Select the "Musicmatch" directory.
- Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

6. Right click on the Start button.
7. Click "Explore".
8. Navigate to the "C:\Program Files" directory (unless you selected a
different installation directory).
9. Verify that the "Musicmatch" directory has been deleted.
10. If the directory still exists, highlight the directory and press the
delete key on your keyboard.
11. Navigate to the "C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs (for Windows 9x) or
"C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu\Programs" directory (Windows 2000/XP)
12. Verify that the "Musicmatch" directory has been deleted.
13. If the directory still exists, highlight the directory and press the delete key on your keyboard.

In order to do a thorough uninstall you should also check the Windows
registry. To do so:

1. Click the Start button.
2. Click "Run".
3. Type "regedit" in the box and press enter on your keyboard.
4. This will open the Windows registry editor.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THE NEXT STEPS EXACTLY!

a. On the left you will see six folders. Find the one that is called
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".

b. Click the + next to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" to expand the folder.
c. Click the + next to the "Software" folder.
d. You will see a list of folders in alphabetical order. If a "Musicmatch"
folder exists, click on it then press the delete key on your keyboard.
e. Click "Yes" when you are asked to verify that you want to delete the
folder.
f. Close the Windows registry editor.
g. Close any applications that you have running.
h. Navigate to the Windows temp directory (typically "C:\Windows" in Windows 9x & ME, "C:\" in Windows NT, "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings" in Windows 2000/XP).
i. Select the files and folders in the Temp directory.
j. Press "Delete" on your keyboard.
k. Restart your computer.

- Please also delete the InstallShield folder typically located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine.

- Then reinstall Musicmatch Jukebox.
