When I am chatting with a SBC Representative, I start getting script errors half-way through the chat session. I cannot send messages nor cancel the chat session. I don't know the script error exactly.

Without an exact error message it'll be next to impossible to help you find an exact solution. The best we can do with the information provided so far would be a generic reinstall/reconfigure everything.
Which modem are you using from SBC? Do you have a Speedstream 5100? You may not need any of the SBC software.
The software was the easiest way to establish the account. The modem has all the software needed to make the connection. In lieu of the SST, I just bookmark the URL at the bottom of the modem: http://192.160.0.1
It will tell you if you are connected. If you reset your modem, you go to the site enter your name and password (and sometimes your modem serial number) and you'll reconnnect.
I got rid of all the SBC software except for the dial up manager. Works for me!
