illustrator install interrupted

i'm trying to install another version of my adobe illustrator, but in my attempts, the installer quits and says it was interrupted and could not complete installation.

previously, when uninstalling, the i received the same error and the program wouldn't uninstall either. i then manually uninstalled it and used other uninstall programs to completely uninstall it. Still, i get the same error.

does anyone have any idea what could be the problem. i've tried multiple copies of the same version, but i get the same error, so i'm pretty sure it's on my end.

any ideas?
thanks,
ogre

I have norton antivirus and it says i don't currently have any issues. also, i install programs often, so I believe i have full access to the program files folder. i'm not sure what other program could cause the interruption. i've never had that problem with any of the other adobe programs or any program actually.

any other ideas?
thanks

Try this ....

Disconnect from the internet, disable your firewall and antivirus plus any antispyware programs such as Microsoft AntiSpyware and Spybot TeaTimer and try again. Remember to renable - a reboot generally does this anyway.

Have you tried the Adobe forums? I use the Photoshop forum and there is a wealth of info and discussion there on PS.

Illustrator forum here ....

Try this from Adobe ....

Error: "The Wizard was interrupted before...completely installed..." when you remove or reinstall Illustrator (CS2 on Windows XP)

thanks for the link. i tried those steps, but still get the error. i've searched my computer for anything with the word "illustrator" in it, and i come up blank. i've searched my registry for illustrator and there's nothing there. the windows cleanup utility doesn't list illustrator as being on my computer, yet i still get the error or cs2 says it's still on my system. i don't get it.

thanks,
ogre

You're welcome - thanks for the update. Would have been good to solve that problem another way and to know the reason why Illustrator refused to uninstall/reinstall, but .... Hope all goes well from now on.
