Angry Windows shut down problem since Incredimail

Has anyone with Incredimail noticed a Windows shut down problem? I have to shut off my computer manually, and I really like the email program and don't want to delete it.
Help!

Question

Have you tried the ctrl-alt-del and shutting down the incredimail before trying to shut down?

incredimail

Yes I did, and it still would not shut down. Even if I hit restart, it doesn't.

Does a Cntrl-Alt-Del show RNAAPP as running ? If it does, Do an End Task on it.

If that is running Windows will not shut down until it closes.

This would only apply to a Dial-Up ISP.

No BillyBob, RNAAP is not there either. Just RUNDL, SYSTRAY, LVCOMS, CCONNECT(cable modem), MSMSGINN, EXPLORER, that's it.

CCONNECT(cable modem)

Could that the equivalant of Dial-Up RNAAPP ?

Are you using ISP provided Software ?

I ask these things as I have a Cable Modem and do not ( or ever have I had ) any connection showing in Cntrl-Alt-Del.

But I do not ( and never have ) use(d)) ISP provided software for Dial-up or Cable.

Also is there a possibility of there being a setting in Incredimail to make it disconnect after checking mail ? I know there is in OE and Eudora.

I tried Incredimail for a short time and had no problems with it.

All I know is that it is software that comes with our Cox cable modem service. It says Broadjump CorrectConnect for high speed internet connection service. I had this before, and didn't have the shut down problems.
What I did find out is if I go to safe mode, and shut down from there, it shuts down. Also if I go to the step by step confirmation, and said yes to process the system registry, ifshlp.sys, windows graphical user interface, windows drivers, and hymem.sys. It shut down there too.

OK. So you are using ISP software.

When the Tech came to hook up my Cable Modem he took one look thru my machine and told me to hide their Software somewhere where I could not find it. It is still in the un-opened box collecting dust under my desk.

Have you treid doing and end task on CCONNECT to see what the results are ?

For lack of any other ideas ( wild or otherwise ) I am thinking that it * MAY BE * similiar to RNAAPP which sometimes took as much as 5 minutes to shut down.

Other than that I am out of ideas because of not having any problems with Incredimail for the short time I had it.

I still have the downloaded file ( I think ) but have just not tried it on this new machine yet.

Yes I did BillyBob, and that didn't work either.
You know my defrag hangs on my machine too. If I do it in Safe Mode it does fine.

Last but maybe not least.

Have you tried un-installing Incredimail ?

Did both problems start about the same time ?

Yes, exactly, but I like it, and I don't want to uninstall it. I know it's stupid if it's causing problems for me, but I do enjoy it and I was having some problems with my outlook express that worked out for me in incredimail.

There is another E-Mail program call The Bat. ( I think that is it )

I also tried it for a bit but did not get into it too much as I have not tried it either since I built this new machine.

I myself use ( and have used for years ) Eudora.

It is not dependent on Windows or IE version at all. I am using the exact same folder that I used in Win95. And I am right now using ME.

I believe that The Bat is even more stand alone than Eudora.

BTW. Outlook Express is not even installed on any of my machines.

I would not go so far as to say it is stupid to try getting the bug(s) out something that you enjoy using. And to get away from OE. That is why I went to Eudora.

I am just sorry that I can not be of more help.

I have been hoping that someone that has used Incredimail would jump in here. But don't give up hope yet as someone will come along.

Out of curiousity, do the following. The RUNDL entry you note is strange.

Do Start > run > msinfo32.

On the left side, select software environment and then Startup Programs.
Then Edit > Select All
Edit > Copy

Then paste the list back into this thread

The RUNDL entry may be there because a program has not shut down.

I have found it listed at times when I had a program was not behaving properly.

This may be just a wild guess but if this is what I think it is MSMSGINN, ( Microsoft Messenger ) it may be creating problems.
