IM issue- keeps poping up when not logged in

I've recently upgraded my IM (instant messanger) software to the most current version for my daughter. Now even if none of us are log into the IM accounts when someone from the buddy list logs in, it pops up the IM on my system tray by the clock. It's very annoying.

Before I upgraded, I didn't have this problem. Having trouble finding the setting where I can turn off the auto notification.

We don't want to know who is on IM until we sign in to the IM.
Help.
Thanks.
Bill

Sounds like a new feature to me. Have you looked through the various options to see if you can turn this off?
